P.E. News:

Current units include stunts & strength and volleyball. In Mrs. Koehler’s class, students are learning the names of major muscles groups and proper stretching for safe exercise. Students are also practicing safe movements on mats while performing rolls, animal walks, and a variety of balancing stunts. In Mrs. Evans’ class, students are practicing volleyball skills. In a game of “Moon Ball,” students work together to keep a balloon in the air using their forearms to bump and fingers to set. They also learn the importance of personal space, teamwork and communication. Students learn the rules of volleyball through a modified game of Newcomb.

Glenview School District #34 recognizes daily Physical Education instruction as an integral part of every student's educational program. At Westbrook, our goal is to expose students to a variety of sports, games, and skills to promote life-long fitness. Growth in emotional, social, cognitive and motor skills is fostered through physical activity. Along with the development of these physical skills, we emphasize good sportsmanship, fair play and environment, both physically and emotionally.
